High School Special Events
JLINE Dance Crew
The JLINE Dance Crew visited Whitewright on Halloween to share a special message paired with a dance performance. JLINE performed some of their own original music along with other songs, and each song was accompanied by energetic dance routines. After the performance section of their presentation, each member of the group delivered personal anecdotes which informed students about real instances of bullying. These messages inspired students to be theirselves and never pretend to be anyone other than who they are. It was an exciting and unique assembly experience, and definitely had an uplifting and applicable message.

Seeds of Honor
'To Encourage all of you to "Honor" others!
To Encourage all of you to "Respect" others! Why? Not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it could save your life and others! Jason Norton, a former Army Ranger and McKinney police officer delivered an inspiring message during an assembly in the high school gym. Telling stories from his days in the military and as a police officer, Norton encouraged students to honor and respect others as it could save your life. His first story told of an arrest for a DWI of a patrolled killer, who told him he spared his life because "he treated him with respect, honor, as though his life had value." After getting to the jail, Norton talked to the man about his tattoo and the gruesomeness of the picture depicted. The man told Norton he planned to kill him, but did not because of the way Norton treated in during the arrest. Another story he shared was of a displaced Katrina survivor from a psychiatric hospital in which the patients were released to the general population or face drowning. Somehow the man ended up in McKinney without any means of support or his medication. He was trying to figure out who to kill so the "system" would take him back. But he could not make the choice because the people of McKinney were so nice to him! They respected him. Honored him. Treated him with value! Norton ended his message with two ways to honor others. First, when you wake up and you get ready for school or get ready for the day "Clothe yourself with Honor" Second, look at honor or honoring others like planting seeds. With yourself. With your family. With your friends With your teachers. With your coaches. With your leaders. With strangers. It could save your life! |
